FLAC Annual Meeting 2026

It was delightful to join fellow First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) members and numerous other First Ladies at our annual FLAC meeting in Owerri on 20th June 2026.

A Gala event to celebrate cancer survivors, was organised by our amiable and dynamic host, Her Excellency, Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma, the First Lady of Imo State and current Chairperson of FLAC, themed “Celebrating Survivorship, Strengthening Systems”.

FLAC is a coalition of wives of serving and former governors, assiduously advocating for favourable policies and actions geared towards cancer advocacy, prevention and eradication.

The highlight of the Gala was gathering to celebrate survivors; it sends a strong message, and reiterates that cancer is not a death sentence, it gives hope and serves as living proof that cancer can be managed when detected early. It reminds us of the impetus of routine checks and pertinence of timely intervention.

Twenty beneficiaries went home with the sum of one million Naira each and it was extremely heartwarming and encouraging to witness Friends of FLAC voluntarily support our cause through generous donations towards sustaining FLAC activities.

We appreciate His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma, CON, the Executive Governor of Imo State for receiving us warmly during our courtesy visit to his office and his hospitality during the rest of our stay.

I particularly commend the efforts or our Chairperson H.E Barrister Chioma Uzodimma for raising the bar, keeping the FLAC flag flying and reaffirming our collective commitment and unwavering resolve.
